Teacher Sparks Outrage after Writing ‘Absolutely Pathetic’ on Student’s Work

Teachers are supposed to be the students’ second parents, especially because children often spend most of their hours in school with them. However, there are teachers who don’t know how to properly deal with students.

Chris Piland from Pennsylvania was outraged after seeing his second-grade son’s work which was parked ‘absolutely pathetic’ by his teacher, reportedly named Alyssa Rupp Bohenek.

The outraged dad said that his son Kamdyn’s test paper on a 3-minute Math drill was marked by the teacher with, “Absolutely pathetic. He answered 13 in 3 min! Sad.” The remark was written in red ink and had a big sad face emoji.

Chris was angry that the teacher would actually put this remark on the kid’s test paper, especially because the boy was just in second grade. Instead of motivating the kid to do better next time, the teacher insulted him instead.

My son Kamdyn’s teacher has been so rude to him and myself all year he comes home with this and I am beyond frustrated that someone would write this on a child’s work such great motivation,” Chris wrote on Facebook.

The post had garnered much interest online, with some even signing up for the petition to have the teacher removed from her post in Valley View school district.

While there were those who see nothing wrong with the remark, many sided with Chris. A lot said that though the boy’s score might not be at par with his classmates, this does not give the teacher any right to insult him. She could have made a different remark that wouldn’t be so hateful.

The school has since launched an investigation on the matter.

It’s a personnel issue and the results of that are not going to be dictated by social media. It’s going to be dictated by the facts and evidence,” explained school superintendent Rose Minniti.

As always with everything, we’re going to try to do what’s best for the students and what we need to do for the employee under investigation.
