Student Breaks World Record with 170+ College Acceptance
Getting accepted to a college of your choice is truly a dream come true – but for most people, that’s easier said than done.
Still, there are those who are able to go beyond expectations and get accepted to several colleges. For example, a Filipina island girl got accepted in 10 US universities, while a tricycle driver’s daughter also received full-ride scholarships to three top US schools.
There was also another Filipino student who got accepted into several dream US universities – and he even shared tips on how to get accepted to a US school with scholarships.
Dennis Barnes, a high school senior from IHSNO (the International High School of New Orleans) recently broke the Guinness World Book record after receiving over $9 million in scholarship offers from 125 colleges (and the number has since increased to 170).
The impressive young man applied to over 200 schools. He got accepted to 170 but he’s hoping to receive more acceptance letters and reach $10 million in scholarship offers by the end of April.
At the rate that his luck is going, it seems that this is soon going to come true.
“I submitted college applications in August with an eye on raising the bar high for college admissions. Decision letters were an overflow in my mailbox and hundreds of scholarship offers,” Barnes explained.
“The road to a successful future is to plan ahead, network with the collegiate partners, and know that if you can see your vision, you can achieve your goal.”
He plans on taking up a dual degree in computer science and criminal justice, but is yet to announce which school’s scholarship offer he will accept.

Before Dennis Barnes created a new record for getting accepted to 170+ US colleges, the record was held by Normadie Cormier who got accepted to 130+ colleges in 2019.
