‘Short’ Labrador Gets Step Stool to Visit Great Dane Friends Across the Fence

A ‘short’ Labrador gets a step stool to visit with his Great Dane friends across the fence. Photos of their sweet encounters went viral, with many netizens admiring this great friendship between the animals despite the wall that divides their respective homes.

Sweet Dog Friendship Goes Viral

Although Labradors are tall dogs, actually taller than most breeds, they are no match to the height of the Great Dane who are known to be the tallest of all dog breeds.

Two of these Great Danes, Vito and Bambino, have no trouble peeking over the fence that separates their home from the neighbor’s garden. The neighbors are actually good friends and would sometimes chat with each other over the fence.

About 6 months ago, the neighbors got a chocolate Labrador they named Giuseppe. Naturally, Vito and Bambino were thrilled with their new friend and would happily look over the fence. But because Giuseppe is much shorter, he can’t return the favor; he could only wait for his tall friends to go near so they could visit with each other.

He has tried many times to jump up and get a good whiff of his big doggy friends whenever we’re all outside,” explained Vito and Bambino’s mom, Afton Tarin.

The poor dog loved to visit with his friends so much that his dad, Robert Carnes, thought it would be a great idea to help him out.

Giuseppe would furiously jump as high as he could and try to say hello. I would always say, ‘If you only had a step stool.’ I had one of my kids go in and grab the stool,” Robert said.

Thanks to the step stool, Giuseppe is now able to visit with his Great Dane friends across the fence.

My initial reaction was to bust up laughing. Seeing his little feet fully extended and his tail all blurred out from wagging too fast, I couldn’t help it. So stinkin’ cute. It definitely gives you that feel-good feeling,” Afton said after Giuseppe’s dad sent her the picture.

Thankfully, the human neighbors understood how the dogs loved to play with each other; not just ‘chatting’ over the fence. So, they also go on walks together with their dogs from time to time.

World Record for Tallest Dog

The world record holder for the tallest dog in the world is Zeus, a Great Dane from USA who measured 1.118 m (44 in) tall on 4 October 2011.
