Man Sparks Debate after Carrying Dog but Letting Little Child Walk

A man sparked debate after carrying his dog while letting his son walk, even if he is still a little child.

But while many netizens believe that this should have been the other way around (the child is carried, not the dog), others say that he certainly has valid reasons for doing it.

Which side are you on?

Man Carries Dog, Lets His Little Son Walk

A lot of people consider their pets as their own children, giving rise to the term “fur parents” to their “fur babies.”

There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. But some people think that there are those who take things too far at the expense of other humans, including their own children.

Recently, a video posted by Tiktok user Luz Elena (handle @lega819) went viral, gaining over 4.7 million views.

In this short clip, Luz Elena’s car appears to be at a traffic stop when she noticed a man crossing the street while carrying a large dog.

Of course, in this modern day wherein so many people are into having pets (many couples even prefer to just have pets instead if kids), this isn’t really something unusual.

But what caught Luz Elena’s attention is that the man was also holding a little kid’s hand as they walked.

It’s unclear how have they have been walking and how far they’ll still need to walk, but the social media post got many people questioning this dad’s priorities.

However, there are also many netizens who believe that this dad isn’t doing anything wrong.

The child has shoes on .. the doggie doesn’t,” one netizen explained.

If you look closely you can see the dog has not collard and no leash, so rather then dog running off he carries it,” an eagle-eyed netizen wrote.

Good dad. Giving his son good clean exercise, even holding his hand, while also keeping his dog safe,” another chimed in.

Who ever took this vid is not a dog owner and does not understand, that the ground is too hot for the dog to walk on,” another explained.

Can Dog’s Paws Get Injured on Hot Ground?

Yes! According to the American Kennel Club’s Chief Veterinary Officer Jerry Klein, DVM, dog paws can become blistered and burned, with the dog experiencing discomfort, from hot pavement or even artificial grass.

He reminds dog owners that while they don’t feel the heat because they’re wearing shoes, dogs don’t and can get injured on hot ground.
