Axed from Future ‘Pirates’ Movies, Johnny Depp Still Visits Hospital as Jack Sparrow

Most netizens would readily associate the “Pirates of The Caribbean” film series with veteran actor Johnny Depp who plays one of the lead characters, Captain Jack Sparrow.

Playing the role for 15 years, Depp has certainly become one with the character and has made it his own. It’s hard to imagine someone else playing Captain Jack Sparrow in the movies, right?

But the Depp had actually been axed from future movies in the series! Disney executive Sean Bailey announced that despite Depp being one of the most recognizable characters in the series which boasts of five blockbuster movies that grossed over $4.5 billion, they want him out.

We want to bring in a new energy and vitality,” Bailey explained.

I think he’s had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now.

Ouch! The series would certainly be much different without the scraggly pirate!

Despite getting axed from the series, however, Depp has touched many netizens’ hearts when he visited a children’s hospital dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow!

He’s been doing this for years but many were unsure if he would still be doing it this year, especially because the announcement had been made weeks prior to Christmas.

Surprise visit by Jack Sparrow. The most famous pirate to children & teens of our # pediatrics service! A gift that gave joy to the patients, families, caregivers, doctors, and researchers. Huge thanks to Johnny Depp for his time, his comfort & his energy,” tweeted Curie Institute based in Paris, France.

The actor visited the hospital last December 28, 2018. He entertained the kids, signed autographs, and gamely posed for photos with the patients, the caregivers, and everyone who was at the facility.

Kudos to you, Johnny Depp! You will always be our Captain Jack Sparrow!
