Cris Vinz C. Tomboc hails from Sultan Kudarat in Mindanao, Southern Philippines, but he studied at West Visayas State University, a public university in La Paz, Iloilo City.
This inspiring young man graduated as cum laude, earning his nursing degree with flying colors.

Yet the graduation honor didn’t make him slack off and think that he’s sure to pass the nursing board exams.
Instead, he worked harder to reach for his dreams.
After the results came out, which showed that he clinched the much-coveted top spot, Tomboc shared how he managed to achieve it all.
According to Tomboc, he made sure to study 8-12 hours a day, every single day. He even created and followed a strict daily schedule and was mindful of every hour.
He memorized 8,000+ nursing flash cards, then reviewed around 500 to 1,000 of them daily. He wanted to make sure they’re committed to his long-term memory.
Using an app called Anki, he also answered about 20,000 to 30,000 questions. For mastery, he simply answered these questions again and again and again.
He regularly studied and reviewed until the day of the nursing board exams.
All his hard work and dedication paid off as he got a rating of 91%, ranking number one for this batch of nursing board takers.
It also probably helped that he was striving harder, acknowledging that there’s someone else out there who’s working harder than him.
