Two years ago, Danny Reed weighed 280 lbs while his wife Lexi was 485 lbs. They loved each other and certainly accepted themselves for who they are but they would soon realize that being obese is not just something that makes them look unpleasant but was also quite dangerous to their health.
They also wanted to be parents, something that was quite a challenge with their obese bodies. Plus, when you plan on having kids, you also want to make sure that you are alive to care for them. So, on January 1, 2016, they both made this New Year’s resolution to lose weight – didn’t we all do?
But while many people go through New Year’s resolutions like that, lose some weight towards the middle of the year, then gain back the pounds, these two worked extra hard to ensure they don’t gain back the weight they lost.
Even without a personal trainer, not going through a strict meal plan, and definitely without undergoing surgery, the two plodded on and motivated each other. What they didn’t know is that this would change their lives, not just physically but also emotionally.
They lost weight together and this journey has led them to become closer to each other.
Finally, after losing over 300 lbs, Lexi shared a post taken of the two of them in a similar angle to their first post on the day they decided to lose weight. They’re unrecognizable! Can you believe these two on the right are the same people as the ones on the left? Amazing!
Is There Surgery to Lose Weight?
Everyone knows it is very difficult to lose weight, no matter how motivated you might be. The question in everyone’s mind now is whether there is a surgery they can undergo to lose weight.
The answer is “Yes!” However, such procedures are drastic and not reversible.
The most common weight-loss surgeries are:
- Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
- Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding
- Sleeve gastrectomy
- Duodenal switch with biliopancreatic diversion
