Honest Kid Guards Phone that Family Forgot in Motorcycle’s Open Box

An honest kid recently went viral for guarding a cellphone that a family forgot in their motorcycle. They didn’t even realize the phone was there until they returned!

Honest Kid Goes Viral for Good Deed

These days, most people own cellphones — and even kids have them.

But some people, especially kids, can be careless when handling their gadgets. Often, kids have no idea about the value of their phones and that there are people who can take interest in these gadgets, and would try to take them if the owners aren’t watching.

Recently, netizen Iresh Pallares (Facebook handle Aldesh Xhanem Heart) shared an appreciation post to an honest kid who made sure their child’s gadget was safe and secure while they were having fun at Bogo City Park in Bogo City, Cebu.

In the post, the netizen narrated that their family went to the park to have a good time, but they didn’t realize that their child, Xhanem, had left the gadget in the motorcycle’s open utility box.

In fact, they didn’t even notice that the phone was in the vehicle until they returned to find a boy sitting on their motorcycle, guarding it.

After the boy confirmed that the motorcycle was theirs, he informed them that they left the phone in the box and that he made sure to guard it, knowing that there were many people in the area who would easily take it away if they saw it first.

The family was, indeed, surprised but happy over the boy’s deed. While they didn’t know that their phone needed guarding, the fact that this kid did it without being told to do so touched their hearts.

According to Pallares, they were able to give the kid a small reward, but promised to treat him at Jollibee the next time they see him because they weren’t able to bring extra cash at the time.

The good deed went viral. Other netizens soon reached out to the original uploader to offer cash to reward the kid.

The family was also able to reconnect with the kid through the child’s neighbor who saw the post. It turned out that his name is Niño Verdida. Pallares was amazed to learn that although the child and his family love in poverty and he has a PWD (person with disability) sibling, the thought of taking the phone never crossed his mind.

They were able to treat him to Jollibee as promised on the post, and they also got him and his family some groceries and other things they needed.

What a wonderful reward for this young boy’s act of kindness.

How to Keep Kids from Losing their Gadgets

  • Teach kids the value of cellphones
  • Instruct kids to keep their gadgets in a bag or leave these at your house if you’re heading out
  • Tell them that there are people who might take their gadgets away if they kept these exposed while you’re out
