Mysterious Ghost Ships Always Appear after Midnight, Now Caught on Camera

The island of Siquijor in central Visayas is known for its mysterious stories, voodoo tales, and beautiful beaches. But “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (One at Heart, Jessica Soho)” recently investigated the mystery of the ‘ghost ships’ called tayog-tayog – and they actually caught the ships on camera!

According to stories in the area, the tayog-tayog is a boat that appears past midnight at the seas of Lazi, Siquijor. There are actually two boats that appear in the seas, and these are believed to be ferries for ‘engkanto’.

Richard Calempong, a local fisherman, was among those who supposedly witnessed the appearance of the tayog-tayog. He’s seen the passengers on these boats – they don’t really look like people.

The locals who saw the boats tried to take a video of these vessels yet their cellphones could not capture the boat’s image despite seeing these with their eyes.

Meanwhile, Lanie Ontolan is not a native of the area and refused to believe the stories at first; until the night she saw the tayog-tayog with her own eyes. Now a believer of the mysterious boats, Lanie was among those who always see the boats every night. She claimed that the boats never fail to appear every night, sometime after midnight but before 2AM.

Siquijor Coastguard Station Commander LTJG Donna Liza Duran-Ramacho confirmed that there are no ports in that part of the sea or boats scheduled to pass in that area. She was among those who waited at dawn alongside the KMJS team for the tayog-tayog to appear.

Indeed, it was past midnight when they saw lights suddenly appear at sea! According to Richard and Lanie, these were the lights from the tayog-tayog. Amazingly, the lights were now captured on camera by the KMJS team. Seeing these with their own eyes, Ramacho and many in the team now believed the stories were true.

The locals further added that these supernatural passengers go to a place in Maria where they live in a ‘town’, the entrance of which is a cave by the sea.

The following day, the team was accompanied by the show’s paranormal expert who said that he felt the presence of a ‘lady’ at the entrance of the cave. He said the place was their town.

That night, the boats appeared on schedule – and the team was once again able to catch the strange occurrence on camera. The coastguard tried to chase the boats and catch them but only encountered large waves as they neared the spot, getting nowhere near the boats. They were forced to abort their mission.
