64-Year-Old Man Travels 100+ km Per Day to Sell Salted Fish for Wife’s Medical Needs

It is said that the real story of true love is not that of Romeo and Juliet but that of an old couple who made it through all the odds and loved each other forever!

Recently, netizens praised a 64-year-old man who travels 100+ kilometers per day, just to sell salted fish so he could pay for his wife’s medical needs.

The old man was identified as 64-year-old Md Zin Ahmad from Bukit Pasir, Muar in Johor, Malaysia. For over 5 years now, he would wake up early so he could travel to Melaka (Malacca City) where he had better chances of selling his salted fish.

Each day, he would bring around 100 packs of salted fish which he would sell in the neighborhoods of Melaka. He does not have a stall in the city; instead, he goes from house to house, knocking on doors to sell the salted fish.

His plight went viral when Malaysian girl Aina Wardina shared some of his photos on her Twitter account. According to Wardina, she had seen Ahmad when she joined a marathon near Dataran Pahlawan.

She was surprised to see him again in Melaka; thus, she stopped to chat with him.

Wardina learned that though Ahmad is old, he does not mind doing this every single day so that he could earn money to pay for the medical needs of his much older wife. Fatimah Md Said is 73 years old and bedridden but Ahmad loves her so much that he would do anything and everything for her! What an admirable husband.

At his age, Ahmad also has his own medical issues to deal with, yet he does not want to be a burden to his four children who all have families of their own now. Thus, he continues selling salted fish to earn money for his wife’s medical needs…
