Spanish Girl Gives Birth to Older Brother’s Baby, Mom Expresses Shock

An 11-year-old girl has reportedly given birth to a baby boy at Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital in the city of Murcia, Spain on Friday, February 2. The girl’s mother has since expressed shock over her young daughter’s pregnancy, especially after learning that it was the child’s 14-year-old brother who is the father!

According to the report on Yahoo! News, the children’s mother believed to be from Bolivia. She was unaware that her daughter was pregnant or that the children were doing some hanky panky behind her back.

The girl had recently complained of severe stomach pains. Thinking the kid had some serious intestinal problems, the parents brought her to the hospital. Upon admission, however, the medical staff told them the girl was going to have a baby, something that shocked the mother.

Police were called in to investigate the matter, especially because the girl was very young. She claimed that it was her 14-year-old brother who made her pregnant. While the cops are accepting her story on face value, they will also conduct a DNA test to make sure this was the truth.

Further investigations are also being done to investigate what really happened and if the boy was really the baby’s father. If proven, however, the boy wouldn’t likely face jail time because of his age.

While the 11-year-old girl’s brother is now 14 years old, he was still 13 when he got his sister pregnant. Still, whether 13 or 14 at the time the ‘crime’ was committed, this was still way below the age of criminal responsibility in Spain.

What is the Age of Consent in Spain?

In the past, the age of consent in Spain was 13 but it has been raised to 16 in 2013; however, the law has placed a stipulation that exempts criminal responsibility if the boy is of similar age to the girl.
