Duterte Skips Live Interview with Kris Aquino

Claiming he has migraine, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte skipped the live one-on-one interview he was supposed to have with Kris Aquino who happens to be the sister of his predecessor, former Pres. Benigno Aquino III.

Duterte supporters were quick to defend the president.

Duterte certainly has a valid reason not to attend the interview on Friday afternoon, especially because he had just arrived from an official trip to Thailand and Malaysia that morning. Surely, all that traveling and official functions had taken their toll on the president. After all, he’s old and has been traveling a lot.

Also, according to Duterte supporters, he did not have to attend the one-on-one interview, anyway, as Aquino has this knack of putting people on the hot seat and with Duterte’s negative image on media, he does not need to make another mistake – especially in the hands of Kris Aquino.

After all, she’s the sister of the man that Duterte’s supporters are criticizing for “doing nothing” in his term as president. Also, Duterte has been vocal in expressing disdain over the unfinished projects for Typhoon Yolanda victims despite the calamity happening three years ago and despite the billions of donations the country received to rebuild the affected areas.

On the other hand, Duterte critics slammed the president for ‘snubbing’ the interview, saying that he is bastos and selfish. They believe that he should set aside politics and grace the interview for the sake of the people.

What’s Kris Aquino’s Reaction to Duterte Skipping the Interview?

Meanwhile, Aquino made light of the sticky situation, joking that she went on diet for two weeks just to prepare for the interview. She said she does not blame the president, however, as in her job, things like that happen and her co-star gets sick but the show must go on.

Aquino remains hopeful that the president will grant her request for a live one-on-one interview in the future, joking that she hopes one day the president will learn to ‘love’ her.
