VIDEO: Blind Mother Sees Son for the First Time

A legally blind Canadian mom was able to take a first glimpse at her newborn son thanks to a special device called eSight.

At the age of 11, Kathy Bietz was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Stargardt disease. The condition causes progressive vision loss often leading to legal blindness.

Priced at $15,000, the awesome innovation created by eSight Corporation allows people with vision loss to see images using a camera, display technology and advanced computing that produce real time videos. They have the option to alter, zoom or enhance the images.

The company allowed Kathy to use eSight on the special day she gave birth to her son and the result was life-changing. Aside from seeing her precious baby Aksel for the first time, Kathy got to look at her husband for the first time too!

“For the first baby that I get to actually look at being my own is very overwhelming. Even to look at my husband looking at him was such a good feeling. I got to fall in love with him,” Kathy said.
