Traffic Aide Earns Praise for Not Leaving Post Amid Rain

The rain was pouring hard but while most people would run for cover and stay away from the downpour, traffic aide Francisco Nodado Jr. did not leave his post – and for this dedication, he earned the admiration of thousands of social media users in the Philippines.

A native of Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental, Philippines, fate had taken Nodado to the nearby island of Cebu where he first lived in the town of Liloan. He would later move his family to Mandaue City because his son is studying in Cebu City.

It was at a junction close to Parkmall in Mandaue City that Nodado was photographed working hard despite the heavy downpour. Aside from ensuring that vehicles at the junction followed traffic rules and his instructions for a smoother flow, Nodado also assisted a public utility jeepney which was stuck at the junction because of the flood.

These actions were witnessed by a certain Ian Pagobo who took pictures of the hardworking traffic aide and posted them on Facebook along with his story. The post quickly went viral, with Nodado earning praise from hundreds of social media users for his dedication to his job.

Nodado was quite surprised to learn from a co-worker that he had gone viral on Facebook.

But he did not just get praise on social media because after the post went viral, news of his extraordinary dedication reached Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisumbing. The mayor not only gave Nodado a citation for his actions, he also gave the dedicated traffic enforcer a cash gift!

Good job, Sir! May you continue to be selfless and dedicated to your job!
