Teacher Buys New Uniform for Student with Baggy Old Pants, Extra Large Shoes

In many places across the world, even in highly developed first-world nations, there live poor people who are so poor they could not afford to buy clothes that fit their children properly. Many can’t even feed their kids three times a day!

A teacher in Sungai Petani, Malaysia, was hailed for his kind deed to a student who wore baggy old pants and a pair of shoes that were several sizes bigger than his feet.

Teacher Mohd Nasir Mohd Zain saw a Grade 3 student dragging his feet while he walked. As he struggled to walk, the boy also had one hand on his pants, obviously trying to keep it from falling to his feet.

I asked him why was he walking like that. He told me that he couldn’t walk properly because his shoes were too big for him. I could fit three fingers in the space in his shoes,” the teacher shared.

Upon close inspection, the teacher saw that the boy’s worn-out pants were simply too big for him. The waist part was folded in a bid to make the pants ‘fit’ him, somehow. It turned out the uniform was owned by his older brother, a Grade 6 student.

The boy was obviously having a difficult time with his oversized uniform and was also feeling rather shy as he went to school in those clothes.

Taking pity on the kid and understanding that things like this could ruin the child’s will to go to school as the others might laugh at him, the teacher sought permission from the principal to bring the boy to the nearest department store. When the principal agreed, Zain took him to the store and bought him new uniforms!

His teacher’s salary might not be big, yet Zain knew that sharing some of it with this kid is a good way to ensure he has a brighter future ahead. Kudos, Teacher Zain!
