Smarter Than Humans? Adorable Video of Raccoon Washing its Hands Goes Viral

Smarter than humans? The adorable video of a raccoon washing its hands has gone viral, with many netizens saying that this little creature should be a role model for humans instead of the other way around…

Raccoon Washes Hands in Viral Video

Shared by Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan, the video shows a raccoon washing its hands carefully. What’s impressive is that the little creature appears to know what to do as it first used the clear water, then the soapy water, then back to the clear water to wash the soap away. Wow.

Everybody must wash their hands carefully. Second Demo by the Raccoon 🦝 . Watch carefully. TikTok video,” shared Kaswan.

It is unknown whether the wild animal was actually taught to wash its hands but it was amazing the little raccoon knew exactly what to do to wash its hands. Amid the current situation wherein the pandemic might be slowed down by something as basic as proper hand washing, it is good that this animal knows how to wash its hands and has now become a good example for humans.

That’s an expert hand washer,” one netizen wrote.

Some netizens were wondering whether the video was just a perfectly done animation or some kind of filter that changed a human into a raccoon in the clip. But still it was cute to watch, right?

So cute! Appropriate to current scenario! Nature teaches us lot…. it’s just we who ignore it!” another commented.

Have you seen anything like this before? So cute!

Proper Hand Washing

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, proper hand washing is being taught to people. While it should have been a basic thing, hand washing is so easy that it got overlooked. These are the steps to proper hand washing:

  • Wet your hands with clean, running water — it can be warm or cold.
  • Apply soap and lather well from palm to palm.
  • Rub your hands vigorously for at least 20 seconds. Some suggest that you sing a song, such as “Happy Birthday” song as guide. Sing twice.
  • Make sure to scrub all surfaces, including the backs of your hands, wrists, between your fingers, and especially under your fingernails.
  • Rinse well.
  • Lastly, dry your hands using a clean towel or you can simply air-dry them.
