School’s Heiress Turns Santa, Makes Students’ Wishes Come True for Christmas

The heiress of a school in Cebu has turned into a Santa Claus as she made a lot of students’ wishes come true for Christmas!

Candice Gotianuy, the only child and heiress of University of Cebu’s founding president Atty. Augusto “Gus” Go, earned praises on social media after students shared photos of the amazing gifts they received from the generous lady.

In a post on Facebook, the tech-savvy heiress called on UC students to share their wishes.

Make a Christmas wish and I’ll help make it come true. 😊 Please write your wish in the comment section below. I will choose a few wishes before Christmas break,” Gotianuy wrote.

Wishes began to pour in on the post, with many students making hilarious wishes to make theirs unique and possibly the ones chosen by Gotianuy.

For example, Pau Bentulan Ceron posted intriguing photos with the caption, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.” It turned out they lost their electricity at home – and the photos were those of their kitchen, before and after he turned on the flashlight.

Many wished for shoes, others for food, and a lot also wished for their family members or friends to receive medical assistance and other heartbreaking wishes.

Gotianuy would later announce that she would have to close the comments’ section and pick the ones whose wishes she would grant.

If you weren’t chosen, I suppose one way to look at it is that there are others who need help more than you. So please DO NOT WHINE OR VENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA! Remember I can always take a screen shot and exclude you next time… 😉 Accept it graciously. It is, after all, a wish,” she added in a post last December 11.

Of the over 1,400 wishes, she made a shortlist of about 500 wishes.

The screening committee organized a mini-event called ‘Shoes Galore’ for those who wished for shoes. They took the students to SM Seaside where they were allowed to pick any shoe they wanted to buy! Wow.

The committee also organized a Jollibee for 200 streetkids as there were a lot of students who wished to feed the homeless.

There were those who received medical help while criminology student Dave Obcial got a brand-new motorcycle for his habal-habal driver dad.

The heiress also granted the wish of a student for plane tickets for his OFW dad who hasn’t come home for 12 years. The screening committee not only organized a surprise homecoming event for Melvin’s dad, they also had other surprises for the student.

Many other wishes were also granted. Isn’t that awesome?
