Just a few days before Christmas in 2014, baby Hayden Daniel died. Just 6 months old, baby Hayden had been in and out of the hospital because of his weak lungs. On December 19, he passed away in his father’s arms.
On the anniversary of his death, daddy Kyle Daniel honored the memory of his child by fulfilling a lifelong wish of taking his son’s first Christmas photo with Santa. But because his son had already passed away, Kyle brought along Hayden’s picture for the mall Santa in Statham, Georgia to hold.
The Santa, Caleb Ryan Sigmon, shared the touching moment on his Facebook page. He narrated how the father made the simple request in not so many words, simply saying, “I have a request. My son passed away, last year.” Kyle handed Caleb the picture but, choked up with emotion, could no longer say any more words.
Santa Claus Caleb understood what the grieving dad meant; so, he took the photo and posed for some snapshots. Kyle picked the photo he liked from the screen, saying he will have it printed for his wife.
Touched by his story, Caleb and the girl working at the computer gave the photo for him as a gift. The man behind the Santa suit said he posted the story on Facebook “to remind us all that Christmastime is unbelievably hard for some families”.

Santa Claus in Malls
It has been a practice in many malls across the world that a man dressed in Santa Claus outfit stay in a Christmas-decked spot so shoppers can have their pictures taken with him. Of course, no one is forced to take photos with the Santa but many would line up, anyway, just to have the chance to get their photos taken.
Ideally, these mall Santas are old, with white hair, and a white beard. In many places where such a person could not be found, the Santa wears a fake beard and fake white hair, instead.
