Old Vendor Earns Admiration for Still Selling His Vegetables Despite the Floods

The US isn’t the only place battered by storms these past weeks. The Philippines also suffered from two storms last week, leading to massive flooding in several areas.

Floods do not just destroy properties and carry away people, pets, and things, these also make many stranded in their own homes or some other place they were staying at when the water levels begin to rise.

This could mean that food might be hard to get because the people have a hard time walking in the floods.

One old vendor realized this might be the case for many people; thus, he decided to continue selling his vegetables to them despite the flood. While this allowed him to still have some money as he was able to sell his goods, it also gave him a chance to help the people who couldn’t get out of their homes because of the rising waters.

But it was actually quite dangerous to his health, especially considering his advanced age. Moreover, the flood waters are not just potentially carrying dangerous bacteria and other organisms, there could also be hidden dangers in the dark water such as open manholes and canals or sharp things carried by the flood.

When netizen Pamzkie Luna shared the old vendor’s photo on Facebook, many expressed their admiration for the man and praised him for his tenacity despite the flood. Others also said that he is a good example for many criminals who choose to earn money the easy way by stealing from others when this admirable man is doing something so noble and difficult to feed his family.

According to Luna, she bought some vegetables from the old vendor and even gave him the change. After all, he did save them the trouble of needing to go through the flooded waters to buy food.
