They Married Friday the 13th. The Next Morning, The Bride Dies.

By tradition, Friday the 13th is considered by many as an unlucky day. Although this an old superstitious belief and very few still believe in it nowadays, Krzystof Michalowski, 34, will say that yes, this month’s Friday the 13th was indeed an unfortunate day for him and his family.

According to a blog report by Metro, Krystof married 38-year-old Mariola, his partner, in “a small ceremony in Richmond, North Yorkshire with their two children present” last May 13, 2016.

The next morning, Krystof started the day by feeding Veronica, their 1-year-old daughter. He thought his wife was merely sleeping. Much to his shock, he found out his wife was no longer breathing so he immediately contacted an ambulance and administered CPR. He was later told that his wife has been dead for several hours after having an epileptic fit while sleeping.

Before their marriage, the couple had been together for six years. Krystof said of his bride:

“She was the kindest person. I would be stressed about life and the future and she would always tell me not to think about it and live in the moment.

“This doesn’t feel real yet.”

The groom recalled that his wife was the ‘happiest [he] has ever seen her’ during their wedding.

Mariola’s epilepsy problem has been with her for over 20 years and there were instances when she would have 4 to 5 fits per month. This condition eventually rendered her unable to work.

Krystof shared:

“Epilepsy is such an underestimated condition and people didn’t think she was disabled because they couldn’t see any limp or anything.

“She was a soldier and with epilepsy you can’t see it until it happens.”
