Man Who Lost Hands to Accident Creates Amazing Art Using His Arms

He may have lost his hands to an accident, but Dhaval Khatri did not lose his artistic skills and would eventually learn how to use the stumps of his arms to make amazing art!

Dhaval wasn’t always armless. In fact, he had a rather normal childhood as a boy with complete limbs.

When he was 14 years old, Dhaval went with his relatives to have fun at the Uttarayan, also known as the International Kite Festival. It is one of the biggest festivals in India – and he certainly wouldn’t miss it for the world!

While flying a kite from a relative’s house, the boy touched a live wire and fell to the ground from the terrace above. His heart stopped beating. That would have been the end of this brilliant young kid, if not for a doctor who happened to be passing by just as the incident happened.

Lucky for Dhaval, the doctor was able to immediately perform CPR and brought him back to life. He was rushed to the ER. He survived but lost both hands.

Losing your both the hands at the age of 14, I realized that life would continue to be difficult,” Dhaval said, but he was still so lucky to be alive.

I was happy that I had received a new lease of life – something that a few lucky ones gain. In fact I was looking forward to make the best out of what I had been left with. Soon I was trained to do everything without hands.

He discovered his talent in art when his mother made him practice using a pen.

Gradually, I turned to sketching and painting. For six full months, I dedicated myself towards it and got a grip on it. Now, I was able to draw sketches and make paintings fluently,” Dhaval revealed.

While all the universities that he applied to rejected him as student, he began to hone his skills on his own. If they won’t train him, then he will train himself!

What’s the Difference Between Sketching and Painting?
