We can’t get enough of stories that warm the heart. These stories often come from people who despite having difficulties in life, are able to remain positive and happy. Their happiness is what is contagious that we can’t thank them enough.
Take this man for example, he is afflicted with a very rare medical condition. It is so rare that only 25 people in the entire world has it.
Nathan Hrdlicka, 34, was born without thighs. His condition is called bilateral proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD) type D. This means that his knee joints are placed under his hip bones.

Despite his condition, Nathan never let it limit him. His story remains to be one of those true life testaments that only good comes to those who have a positive outlook and those who have hope and perseverance in life.
“I don’t see myself as different. When people come up to me that’s the first thing they are seeing, my disability. My disability is something that doesn’t define me.”
Out of all of the 25 people in the entire world who has his condition, he is the only one who can walk. Doesn’t that say a lot about how he doesn’t let anything get in the way of living his life?
“There’s only 25 people in the world with my condition, It makes me feel pretty unique.”
This amazing outlook in life is what drew his true love to him. Nathan met Chelsee through Facebook, and have since fallen in love with each other.
Nathan describes Chelsee as supportive.
“Chelsee supports me emotionally as a friend in a way that I never had in my life.”
“When I am sick, she is there making sure there is everything she can do to make me feel better. Whether it is to put a smile on my face or a glass of cold water.”
19-year old Chelsee confesses that people are drawn to them because of the height difference.
“Some people are very curious and give us these looks like ‘What is going on?’ just because of our height difference and then a lot of people are drawn to us.”
“We are both very energetic and vibrant together, so people are more curious and they come up to us and ask questions.”
“They eventually see the love that we have and the friendship that we have.”
Currently, Nathan and Chelsee are trying to raise $25,000 for the medical expenses of Nathan. Since Nathan doesn’t have insurance and he no longer gets disability checks. You can check out their GoFundMe page here if you want to help.
