Stuck in quarantine with nothing to do because Brooklyn is on lockdown, one guy sends his number via drone to the girl he saw dancing on the roof of the building across the street. The girl would soon text back! Their unique ‘date’ went viral, with many people following their story and waiting for what will happen next…
It all began when a bored Jeremy Cohen looked out his window and saw a girl dancing on the roof.
“I’m all cooped up in my apartment alone, so it’s definitely different than my normal life of being out and about all the time (there’s so much to do in NYC!) For now, I’m taking it day by day,” Jeremy said, explaining what it was like to live in quarantine.
“I looked out my window and saw this girl dancing, perhaps to a TikTok song? I needed to say ‘Hi’ to her. So I waved to her on my balcony and she waved back.”
The girl, named Tori, waved back. Jeremy hurried back inside his apartment, wrote “Text me” and his number on a piece of paper, then attached it to the drone which he flew towards Tori. He was quite happy when she picked up the drone and took the paper off.
The next day, Jeremy thought he should take this to the next level by asking her out on a date.
“I actually haven’t been on a date in at least a year. I think I was just craving some social interaction, and being confined by the walls of my apartment inspired some creativity for me,” Jeremy admitted.
Tori said “yes” but was unsure how they could go about with the date, considering that there’s a lockdown in the city. But Jeremy already had that all figured out. He enlisted the help of Tori’s roommate to set up a table at the rooftop.
“The date was going so well and depending on how long this quarantine lasts, I might be in a long-distance relationship with someone who lives across the street from me,” he mused.
A community quarantine is an order placed over a geographical area, whether town, city, province, or even an entire country, that restricts movement of people and goods to prevent the spread of something, such as a highly contagious virus.
