Guy Joins 1000 Contests in 50 Days to Test How Many He Could Win

What are the chances of one person winning in a contest? Well, the answer would depend on a lot of factors, including how many slots this contest accepts, what type of contest he/she joins, what rules were meant to be followed, how many winners will be picked, how the winners are picked, etc.

Now, there is this guy named Andrew Lloyd who won a contest on the Nickelodeon channel entirely by chance back when he was 12 years old. Considering how he did not set out to win that contest yet won it anyway, he decides to try his luck 10 years later.

Andrew decided to enter a total of 1000 competitions. To make this goal real and achievable, he set a limit of 50 days – and he would enter 20 contests per day. It did not matter what the contest was all about as long as he does not enter the same contest twice.

He bought magazines, candy, tickets, etc. just so he could reach his goal of joining 1000 competitions. Since there are a lot of those available on the web, he also joined them.

So, did he win in any of these contests? It took at least 4 months before the results began to trickle in. Check out this video to find out more about his goal and his winnings:

Winning in a Contest

If you are planning to join a contest, you have to make sure you know the rules of the one you are joining else you get disqualified. There is no guarantee that you will win, even if the contest was based on pure luck or talent – as there are many factors that could affect your chances of winning.

Still, if the contest was based on talent or skill, make sure you practice so you can perfect your performance and impress the judges. But if the contest is merely based on pure luck, such as winning tickets to your favorite band’s concert or free food from a brand, there’s nothing you can do but pray that your name will be picked.
