Girl’s Transformation from Dark-Skinned Child to Fair Lady Sparks Online Debate

There have been a lot of young people going viral on social media because of their unique versions of the #PubertyChallenge. One of them is a girl named Cai Cortez who was dark-skinned as a child but grew into a fair-skinned beauty after puberty.

In response to the #PubertyChallenge, Cortez shared throwback photos of her as a dark-skinned child. The photo was obviously taken during her graduation day in what appears to be her elementary years.

But just like the many others who went viral for their unique take on the challenge, Cortez didn’t stay looking like her younger self. Instead, her appearance improved so much that it even sparked a debate on social media.

Cortez claimed that her looks improved because she used Kojic whitening soap, a popular product in the Philippines whose morena ladies often wish they had fair skin just like Caucasians. Ironically, Caucasians wish they had dark skins like a Filipina! But that’s beside the point.

Netizens did not debate on whether Cortez was right in using whitening soap but were actually debating on whether Cortez’s claim was real or not. After all, there had been a lot of ladies who used the same soap without getting skin as white as she is now.

She does look like a ‘mestiza’ now! Hmmmmm.

Many netizens suggested that while she might be honest in saying she used whitening soap, she might also be using more potent products such as glutathione injections because her skin as a kid looked too dark to be easily lightened by soap alone.

What is Glutathione Injection?

Glutathione injection is an intravenous dose of glutathione, an anti-oxidant found to be effective in lightening a person’s skin.
