This Cute Naughty Elf Probably Won’t Make It To Santa’s Nice List

Christmas Elves In Pop Culture

Traditional American folklore tells us that a Christmas elf is a creature that lives with and helps Santa Claus in the North Pole. Usually, the elves wear green or red clothing plus they have pointy ears and hats. They do various chores such as making toys, wrapping gifts, and taking care of Santa’s reindeer.

The Christmas elf was first introduce in literary by writer Louisa May Alcott way back 1856 and has since been a staple Christmas character.

In “Santa Claus: The Movie,” the elves are shown creating traditional toys by hand. In 2003, Will Ferrell starred in the comedy movie entitled “Elf.” In “Rise of the Guardians” by Dreamworks Pictures, elves are portrayed as short creatures who played musical instruments. The yetis, on the other hand, made the toys.
