MANILA, Philippines- Fans of Jeyrick Sigmaton, also known as “carrot man”, will soon see their idol in the billboards of clothing brand Boardwalk.
The 21-year-old vegetable farmer from Mountain province became an instant Internet sensation after photos of him snapped by a Cordillera tourist made rounds on social media. Netizens can’t help but point out Sigmaton’s uncanny resemblance with Korean actors.
Carrot man’s unexpected fame opened opportunities for him in the showbiz. Shortly after his photos went viral, the Igorot native was featured in the show Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho and had a guesting at the afternoon game show Wowowin.
During his appearance at Wowowin, host Willie Revillame offered to shoulder the expenses of Sigmaton’s schooling after learning that the latter had to give up his studies at the age of 12 in order to make ends meet. Overwhelmed by Revillame’s act, Sigmaton shed tears of joy during the show.
After undergoing a makeover last month, Sigmaton finally scored his first endorsement deal with Boardwalk. In its Instagram page, the brand posted several photos of the good-looking farmer wearing a hoodie featuring tiny carrots, which implied that Boardwalk has created a line based on his moniker.
A photo posted on Sigmaton’s Facebook account shows him wearing one of the pieces created by internationally renowned designer Mr. Avel Bacudio. Carrot man’s collection will soon be available on the market.
Sigmaton not only gained popularity in the Philippines. In fact, the Igorot stunner was recently featured in a show titled Global Information Show on the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) 1TV. In one of the segments of the show, they discussed how Sigmaton became an overnight celebrity in the Philippines and was even compared to South Korean male celebrities like Lee Min Ho, Won Bin, and Jang Geun Suk.
