High blood pressure is commonly associated to adults of more than 50 years old. However, there is a turn of events as time goes by. As a matter of fact, even children and young adults are already burdened by elevated blood pressure. Consequently, most of them suffered also from its aftermath.

There are risks why a person develops hypertension or elevated blood pressure.  Most of these are lifestyle-related such as insufficient exercise, smoking, and intake of too much alcoholic beverages and processed food. As for those uncontrolled contributing factors, these include age, family history, and sex.

  1. Arteriosclerosis. During the process, your arteries’ inner lining incurs damages. This results to thickening of the arterial walls.
  2. Atherosclerosis. Fats are deposited in the damaged cells of the arterial walls. This may result to chest pain, stroke, and many more.
  3. Stroke. The blood vessels leading to your brain gets narrowed. In this manner, oxygen and other necessary nutrients are not delivered to the brain, leading to stroke. In other cases, hypertension causes the vessels to rupture.
  4. Cardiomegaly. When you have hypertension, your heart tends to work harder. As a result, it gains size.
  5. Kidney Failure. If you have hypertension, there is a great possibility that your kidneys will be affected. It is because there are large arteries that lead to your kidneys.

Hypertension or elevated high blood pressure can bring anyone a cascade of health problems. If you do not want to develop this condition, be an idealistic to health. Otherwise, better have your health insurance well-prepared for the hospital bills.
