Fans of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray were shrieking with delight after she was praised by American Talk Show Hosts as she nailed her first interviews on the shows in her first few days in New York City.
As part of her contract and responsibilities as Miss Universe, Catriona will be staying at the luxurious Miss Universe apartment in New York City. She would be sharing her new home in Manhattan for the next year with Miss USA.
On her fourth day in New York, she was invited to “Live with Kelly and Ryan”. The hosts had fun talking with Catriona, with Kelly feeling quite ‘jealous’ that Catriona lived in Philippines where it is summer ‘all year long’. LOL.
Catriona also candidly shared how she had been very sporty as a kid but this stopped after she turned 12 because she was already 5’ 8” at the time and feeling rather awkward over her height! Ryan Seacrest playfully remarked that he’s 5’ 8” at age 44.
But Catriona’s passion with her advocacy is what really impressed the hosts.
“I really believe that education is transformative, it’s something that you can give to a child or to a person that can never be taken away from them which is why I’m so passionate about it.
So I work with an organization called Young Focus Philippines and they work to give quality access to education for impoverished areas. So these kids, without NGO’s like that, might not ever experience going to school, experiencing developing a love for learning which at the end of the day that’s really what can pull a family out of poverty, so it’s something that I’m very passionate about.”
She delivered this with so much love and passion in her voice that everyone knew she wasn’t pretending – she really loves those kids!
“Here’s an example of good parenting. I’m just thinking, ‘Wow! Your parents must be remarkable!’” Ryan remarked.
As fans cheered, Catriona only had good words for them. She said that Filipino fans are the best in the world.
