90-Year-Old Woman Writes Heartbreaking Note Asking Neighbor to Be Her Friend

It is said that “No man is an island” – and this applies even to our social life. People are born as social creatures and often crave contact or conversation with other human beings.

A 90-year-old lady who lives in Missouri eventually lost her friends. At her age, this is quite expected because it is rare these days for people to live such a very long life to reach 90.

With most of her friends dead, the old lady whose name was Wanda felt so lonely and sad that she didn’t know what to do. Then, she had this brilliant idea of writing her neighbors.

She left a note outside the home of a young lady named Marleen Brooks who was heartbroken upon reading the letter.

The note read, “Would you consider to become my friend. I’m 90 years old- live alone and all my friends have passed away. I’m so lonesome and scared. Please, I pray for someone.

Knowing how lonely the old woman must be feeling, Marleen decided to befriend her. She brought along her bestfriend and went to Wanda’s house, bringing the old lady some cupcakes.

The old lady was understandably ecstatic over their visit but felt a little shy.

I hope you didn’t think I was stupid for writing you, but I had to do something. Thank you so much for coming over. I’ve lived here for 50 years and don’t know any of my neighbors,” Wanda explained.

The post struck a nerve in the community, with many people commenting about experiencing a similar thing with their old neighbors who were abandoned by their own families. A lot of netizens hoped that people would be more kind to the elderly and spend time with them, making them feel special and loved in their last days on earth.
