5 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Cockroaches

Cockroaches are nasty creatures that bring illness and could lead to smelly homes – and they can multiply fast! No one wants to have cockroaches in their homes, of course!

Thankfully, there are many ways to get rid of these pesky creatures.

We all know that the best thing to get rid of these cockroaches is to spray them with insecticide but many people wish to find an alternative way to do it without the use of harsh, harmful chemicals that could also cause other problems, especially to people with asthma and other health conditions.

So, let’s check out these 5 natural ways to get rid of cockroaches:

Make a Bait

Cockroaches can be lured by the sweet scent of sugar but killed by boric acid. So, you should make an all-natural bait comprised of one part powdered sugar with three parts boric acid. Spread the mixture in bowls and place in spots frequented by roaches, including under the fridge and inside the sink cabinets.

Make a Trap

As crazy as it sounds, this method is said to work well with roaches. Place bread slices soaked in beer inside an empty coffee can (or any tin can). Make a ramp from popsicle sticks to lead the roaches inside the can. Put petroleum jelly on the rims to trap the roaches.

Make soap spray

Because roaches breathe through their skin, you can suffocate them by spraying them with soap solution. While the method does not as fast as insecticide, it can still kill these pesky pests.

Use diatomaceous earth

Buy food-grade diatomaceous earth and mix with some cocoa powder. Sprinkle some in places frequented by roaches.

Use catnip

Did you know that catnips are not just for cats? Putting a few catnip leaves on areas frequented by roaches can help get rid of these pests.
